P2 Unit 34

Website Performance and Server-Side factors.

User Side Factors, such as download speed, can affect website performance in that the website can slow down, via many people using the same network at the same time, the internet connection speed at the time of downloading, and many people trying to look at the site at the same time, while PC Performance Factors, such as a lack of RAM, can slow down websites for the user.

Server-Side Factors, such as having a small server, Can cause slowdown or even crashing of the server when it has to process many connections at once, as the server has low bandwidth. Certain File types take longer to load than others, for example .wav (Wave Sound) takes longer to load than .mp3.
Download speeds can be slowed down depending on how the connection is set up at home. If you do not have a good processor it will take longer for a website to display, particularly if it has videos and images.
